Vlissingen, March 4, 2026 ā Medisol, the European market leader in AEDs, announces that founder and CEO Pieter Joziasse will step down as CEO & Founder of Medisol BV on May 11, 2026. The date marks exactly 25 years since the company was founded.
Joziasse made the decision after careful consideration and describes it as a natural moment, both personally and for the continued development of Medisol. Since September 2024, Medisol has been part of the international Safe Life Group, further strengthening the companyās position across Europe.
From Healthcare Professional to European Market Leader
Medisol originated from real-world healthcare experience. As an ICU and ambulance nurse, Joziasse witnessed firsthand how crucial rapid access to an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is during cardiac arrest. What started as a home-based initiative grew into an organization with:
- 20 online shops
- Customer support in 12 languages
- Operations in 30 European countries
- More than 80 employees
The company has received 3 High Growth Awards and 17 FD Gazelle Awards, placing it among the fastest and most consistently growing companies in the Netherlands.
Mission: Access to an AED Within 6 Minutes
Medisol has always had a clear mission: by 2030, everyone should have access to an AED within 6 minutes.
Over the past 25 years, nearly 100,000 AEDs have been brought to the European market through Medisol. Every day, the company contributes directly to faster response times during cardiac arrest and improved survival rates.
To support organizations with limited financial resources, Pieter Joziasse founded the Saving Lives Foundation in 2018. Since then, more than ā¬ 100,000 worth of AEDs has been donated to initiatives that cannot afford a defibrillator themselves.
